Riverside Arts Center

Join RAC for a throwing class! This course is an excellent introduction to the potter’s wheel. Participants will experience basic methods of centering clay, forming functional shapes like cylinders and bowls, trimming and adding handles. Students will also learn how to finish their pots using standard decorating and glazing techniques. This class is open to students with no prior pottery wheel experience, as well as returning students who have taken a wheel throwing class previously. All are welcome!

Learning Objectives
Wedging, centering, throwing cylinders and bowls, surface decoration & additions, trimming, learning about the possibilities of clay as a medium for creative and functional expression.

All supplies included.  Maximum of 6 students.

Ages 18+

Week One: Demos and Throwing
Week Two: More Throwing on the wheel
Week Three: Trimming completed pieces
Week Four: Glazing all bisque-fired pieces
